Taking your prints

The process of taking prints is very simple, quick and mess free.

Handprints, footprints and  paw prints

After you have purchased your item on-line, we will send out your inkless wipe kits. These should normally be with you in one to two working days.

Each kit contains two A4 pieces of specially coated paper and one inkless wipe.  Full instructions and an engraving form are also included.

To take your print place the paper smooth, shinier side up, either on a table or firm flat object like a clip board. Make sure you have your child, partner or pet close to hand and preferably in a good mood!   A little bribery can help here!

Next, open up the wipe.   Don't panic, it will feel dry.   This is normal so please don't run it under the tap!   You will get a good few minutes to work with this before it becomes unuseable.

Wipe the hand, foot or paw all over getting right to the tips of the fingers and the base of the palms.  Hold down onto the shiny side of the paper for about five seconds and lift straight off.  Ta da!  Your prints should appear as if by magic.   Don't worry about any smudging or extra fingers or toes as these can be easily removed by us.

Try to fit as many prints as possible onto each piece of paper as this will give us the best choice of prints to use.  If you don't feel the prints are as good as you would like, you can purchase an additional kit for another go.  If you are worried about messing up and need your jewellery as soon as possible then we would advise ordering an extra kit at the time of purchase.

Finally, wash the hand, foot or paw well.   It is safe and non-toxic but it doesn't taste very nice and you can never be too careful.

Make sure you label the prints, then pop them back in the post using the pre-paid envelope.

Simple!

Taking prints for fingerprint jewellery

After you have purchased your item on-line, we will send out your fingerprint impression kits.  These should normally be with you in one to two working days.

Each kit contains enough for two fingerprint impressions.  Full instructions and an engraving form are also included.

You will receive a ball of blue putty and a ball of white putty.  These will remain soft until mixed together.  Once mixed you have about a two minute window to take your print.

Divide the blue ball into two equal parts and set aside.  Do the same with the white ball.  Be careful not to contaminate them with crumbs etc as this could affect your print.

Take the one blue ball and one white ball and mix together for about 20 seconds or until all streaking has disappeared and it is one uniform colour.  Roll into a ball and place on a small hard surface such as a coaster. Take the finger to be imprinted and push down gently into the putty.  Hold for a few seconds and carefully remove. If you aren't happy and you have worked fast enough, roll the ball back up and try again.  You are aiming for a nice shaped concave print.    Repeat with the second balls of blue and white putty.

Additional kits can be purchased at the same time you order your jewellery but are also available to buy if you need another attempt.

Leave to harden for twenty minutes and then pop into the bags provided making sure you label them carefully. Send back to us in the pre-paid envelope and let us do the rest.
